Birkenstock Newmarket and Takapuna called for Coretec Naturals Forrest. Being a floating rigid flooring system, particular attention was needed to ensure the floor floating system was respected when accommodating bespoke store cabinetry.

Hand selcted premium graded 132mm wide Australian Blackbutt was used by Marks Interiors to craft two 5 meter long counters at an Auckland City lobby. While Blackbutt often enjoys black marks across some of the boards, this project called for clean boards only.

BJELIN at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair

Wood is the world’s most versatile and moldable material. The possibilities are endless and you can create objects of all sizes and shapes. The material is also fantastic in the sense that it is constantly present and growing in our vicinity, which has made the relationship between humans and trees very strong.

BJELIN has, in collaboration with JOYN Studio, created an exhibition to pay homage to wood and its fantastic properties. In our exhibition at Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair, we have therefore invited a number of selected Nordic designers who, just like BJELIN, utilize wood to manufacture products.

We wanted to showcase the mix of this hand crafted art which has been created with simple means together with BJELIN’s high-tech wooden floorings which are manufactured in large volumes in the world’s most modern flooring factories.

With a white birch ply ceiling the focal point of broad pitched contemporary extension, an earthy timber floor that easily appreciated the ply tones was top priority.

After looking at bespoke grains and stains, our clients settled on EcodureOak Western (240mm wide) boards matched with Ecodure St Tropez Solution Dyed nylon carpet.

Bjelin provided 250 sqm of hardened oak flooring through Wood & Beyond to Modernity in London. The showroom, based in fashionable Belgravia, opened in January 2023 and specialises in renowned Nordic designers of the 20th century.

Modernity first established its London office in September 2019, and after opening showrooms at Cavendish Square and Notting Hill’s Westbourne Grove, Modernity has become the go-to destination in London for sourcing collectable Nordic Design. The renovation project on Pimlico Road has now resulted in a permanent London showroom located in Newson’s Yard – a newly developed design destination in Belgravia.

CEO Daniel Carlsson oversees this tranquil spot and in collaboration with Norm Architects, is the creative force behind the latest addition – Sjöparken – boasting 28 new rooms with 700 sqm of BJELIN hardened oak flooring.

At Ästad Vingård, guests embark on a spa journey that converges with new experiences. “The guest should get a much-needed break from everyday life while being offered new food tastes, knowledge of Swedish wine culture, and spa experiences,” Daniel shares. In Sjöparken – translated as Lake Park – each room has its own sauna and jetty, allowing guests to swim any time they want.

At the centre of Halmstad, the seamless integration of nature and modern architecture has turned the City Library into an oasis of literary inspiration. Bjelin's hardened ash floor ESARP 3.0 XL fulfilled the aesthetic aspirations and brought about practical advantages that resonate throughout the space.

“The choice of Bjelin’s ash floor was driven by a desire to achieve the aesthetic vision while preserving the existing floor,” said architect AnnCharlott Castler. “The floating installation proved to be a practical solution, eliminating the need for extensive removal work.”

With such a large 250m2 concrete, glass and steel space, Sweetman Law had acoustic quality as a high priority when working with Wonder Group to redesign a new office space in Takapuna.

DuracoreLifestyle (Akaroa) was selected for it's proven durability under demanding foot traffic and hygiene standards and its clever coating system which gets the boards as close to that natural French Oak look as possible.

Interior designer at Kantikant, Camilla Fritz Grundelius discussed with BJELIN;

“Our brief was to create a premium experience and for the floor to be in harmony with the interiors. We chose the Select grading to avoid having too many knots in the wood, and together with the light Misty White colour, we created a clean and stylish canvas. The extra-large XXL planks added to the exclusive feeling we wanted to achieve."

“Choosing a hardened floor was partly for sustainable reasons but also because of the durability. We needed a floor that could handle heavy traffic. And we are super happy with the result. We receive plenty of praise from customers,” added Martin Jörgensen.

Bjelin recently provided 450 sqm of hardened wood flooring through the team at Wood & Beyond to Market Halls, Canary Wharf, in London.

The Market Halls feature two bars and seven creative kitchens. When refurbishing, they were looking for maximum durability due to the high footfall, a sustainable option, and an aesthetically pleasing floor to match their vibe.

These floors incorporate the leakproof 5G Dry technology, which means the flooring is impervious to the types of spills and splashes inevitable in a venue such as this.
